A Trip to the San Diego Zoo

Earlier this week, we had (made) the opportunity to have a family day at the San Diego Zoo. It was refreshing to take time away from todo items and be tourists for a bit. Plus, it was a great opportunity to have a 'field trip' for school.

We saw many interesting things, but the highlights were watching the polar bears swim, seeing the tigers face to face and of course the pandas. Well, all we really saw were panda butts.....sleeping in the trees, these guys get an awful lot of attention for doing not much at all....

However, given our boat's model name (a Ta Shing Panda) we felt compelled to build a bond. Sophie gobbled up all sorts of information from the zoo keeper and then wrote a report on them. It was pretty cool.

AND - We had this opportunity to get a great Family Photo!!!!

Tomorrow we are off to the Latitude 38 Baja HaHa kick off party. Costumes are strongly encouraged. Sophie will be dressed as.........you guessed it.....a Panda :)

Well it's about time...

Well we have finally created our blog!  It was high on the priority list, but hey, the list was long.....
We will pick up in sunny San Diego, as we prepare for the start of the 2014 Baja Haha. The list is shorter these days, partly because we have checked a few items off and partly because we have reassessed reality.

I (Tom) am hesitant to blog, Kelly elegantly declines and Sophie is all about it..  At the risk of being narcissistic, we hope it will be an effective way to share our experiences and hopefully serve as a documentary of how we went insane, as a family.....at sea.
